“Desperate cookies” — Perişan Kurabiye

After so many weeks I am very happy to sit in front of my loved computer again :) Checking on the internet I found Tinas new blog-event “cookies from all over the world” (lunchforone ). What a lovely idea at this time of the year. Is there anything better than enjoying warm cookies with your tea when it’s cold, dark and rainy outside?

I had to leave my computer unattended for a few minutes to bake some delicious cookies with ground hazelnuts :) Heavenly!

Why are these cookies called “desperate” if they make me so happy?! –As legend has it the discoverer of these cookies was in a hurry that day because of unexpected guests. He went to the kitchen and tossed together a few ingredients, stirred them well and baked dollops of dough rougly sprinkled on a baking tray and served his guests. This procedure made the cookies miserable. They were so unhappy, because they were so easy to prepare that nobody payed more attention than required to bake them. It gave and still gives way to despair. Please do them a favour: whisk sugar, butter, yogurt and eggs until fluffy and creamy. Carefully fold in the attentively picked and finely ground hazelnuts. Stir in flour and baking powder for the smooth binding. And finally aromatise the dough with lemon zest. Act with caution using a teaspoon to place beautiful pieces of dough onto the carefully greased baking tray. Bake these lovely cookies until golden. Ingredients

100 g butter
100 g sugar
50 g plain yogurt Turkish or Greek style
2 egg
200 g ground hazelnuts
1 teaspoon baking powder
200 g flour
zest of one lemon

  1. Preheat oven to 175ºC. Grease two baking trays or line with parchment paper.
  2. Mix all ingredients for the cookies in a large bowl using a mixer until well combined. Pinch off teaspoons of the cookie dough and place well apart on parchment paper.
  3. Bake the cookies in the oven at 175ºC for 10-15 minutes until golden. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack. Enjoy it! Afiyet olsun!

    Also diese Plätzchen haben doch gar keinen Grund zur Verzweiflung, hübsch aussehen tun sie, unkompliziert zu machen, und schmecken tun sie bestimmt hervorragend- der Traum einer jeden berufstätigen Hausfrau oder Hobby- Bäcker.

    Hallo,
    na so was, die sind sehr lecker und wie es so will, bin ich voll dabei diese Plätzchen zu probieren und verzweifeln tue ich bestimmt nicht und auch nicht die Plätzchen, denn das Rezept ist super lecker und ausschauen tun sie genau nach meinem Geschmack. Danke fürs Rezept und liebe Grüße

    Ich würde auch gerne mithelfen, die Plätzchen aus ihrer Verzweiflung zu erlösen; allerdings eher mit Mandeln als mit Haselnüssen.
    …und was es alles gibt….verzweifelte Plätzchen….weinenden Kuchen….ein Glück, dass man hierzulande wenigstens mit Nonnenpfürzchen kontern kann :-)
